Are you familiar with this King?  I remember as a child hearing his name and trying to pronounce him. He ruled Babylon and that is where some of the coolest children’s bible stories take place.  I love the way Veggie Tales puts a spin on him.   The last few days I have been thinking about how he had the power to remove some young leaders from their home and make them into what he thought would be “good Babylonians”.  He may have been the king but his power couldn’t make these leaders bend on their convictions.(Daniel 1-4)  King Neb. was mighty but he had no clue who God was until these young men stood on their faith. . When I read these first few chapters of Daniel I discovered a few things.   King Neb. was powerful but not very smart in chapter 2 he had a dream.  He wanted to know what it meant but none of his smart people could tell him. So he ordered them all executed( v.12), that is silly, he would have no more wise men.   Trouble always brings people to a place of prayer.  These young men would have been part of the execution too but  they went to their knees.    No mighty problem is bigger then our God.  He has answers if we are ready to listen.    Daniel recognized this, he says here  “Praise be to the name of God for ever and ever; wisdom and power are his.  He changes times and seasons; he sets up kings and deposes them. He gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to the discerning. He reveals deep and hidden things; he knows what lies in darkness, and light dwells with him.”( Daniel 1:20-23)     No human is greater than our God!! He has a way through any trial that seem super BIG.  Keep your convictions and stand on the faith you have in the one true God!!  No silly golden image can stop our God from saving us from the heat of human pressure!!  He will answer and deliver just at the right time.
